And don’t let the name fool you. Blue Skies Ahead has plenty of lovely patterns, florals, greenery, and accents that are not blue at all.

This mini is so much fun to work with and can go in all kinds of directions. My first layout and this one both happen to feature a dog, but the collection could just as easily be used for bridal showers, date nights, newborn pages, family memories, outdoor photos, and so much more.

Use It All August: Blue Skies Ahead

This month we’re working with the Blue Skies Ahead Sampler by ScrapChat Designs, a cheerful mini filled with fresh greens, sunny yellows, sweet florals, and pieces perfect for documenting bright days, garden moments, outdoor memories, hopeful stories, simple joys, and all the little moments that feel like a fresh breath of air.

Yes, even though it is called Blue Skies Ahead, this sampler is very green. Sometimes the sky sends flowers instead.

I created this layout using this month’s sampler. The only change I made was to desaturate the ticket, clip the cardstock to it, and set the cardstock layer to Soft Light.

 July Use It All: Toddler Life

One of my favorite things about the Use It All challenge is seeing how completely different each layout can be, even when everyone starts with the same sampler.

This week I created a cute layout with photos of my grandson. Photo credit goes to his mom, Ashleigh.

Toddler Life is perfect for those busy little moments, sweet faces, funny expressions, tiny details, and everyday memories that somehow become the ones you want to keep forever.

This month we are using the Toddler Life Sampler for the July Use It All Challenge at MyMemories.

The journal card in this sampler has a lot of fun potential for layouts. I chose to use it to list the numbers for the photos of our house through the years, and I am looking forward to adding 2026 to the layout and putting it in my TBP (to be printed) pile.

You could use the journal card for so many other ideas too, such as school photos, birthday photos, sports seasons, vacation memories, holiday traditions, or several photos from the same event.

It is a great little spot for dates, names, ages, years, countdowns, favorites, or any numbered list that helps tell the story behind your photos.

Use It All Challenge: Enjoy the Adventure

This month’s Use It All Challenge at MyMemories is featuring Enjoy the Adventure by ScrapChat Designs.

I love this sampler because it has that relaxed, easygoing adventure feel without being locked into only travel pages. The arrows, plaids, dots, soft greens, blues, and earthy neutrals work beautifully for trips, outdoor memories, beach photos, family outings, scenic snapshots, or any little adventure you want to remember.

For my layout, I used it with photos from Lihue, Hawaii during Christmas week 2023. The plaid papers made a great base, the arrow paper added movement, and the layered circle helped highlight one of my favorite photos. I also used the banner pieces, flower, ribbon, tag, and journal card to pull everything together and keep the page feeling connected.

That is one of my favorite things about the Use It All Challenge. It makes you look at each piece and think about how it can help tell the story. A paper can become a border, a strip, a mat, or a tucked layer. Small elements can become accents, anchors, or little details that guide your eye across the page.

My Memories - Use It All Challenge - May

 

Make Me Happy is the Use It All sampler for May at MyMemories. The mermaid and mermaid journal card were optional pieces in the challenge, and in my first blog post this month, I chose to include both of them.

For this layout, I decided to go in a completely different direction and create a page without the mermaid elements and without true mermaid-themed photos. These photos were taken in September 2023 when I flew to San Diego to meet up with my son and his family.

The soft pastel tones in the photos work beautifully against the bolder colors found in the papers and elements from the sampler. Once again, I used the busier patterned paper in smaller amounts to help balance the page while still adding movement, color, and visual interest.

May Use It All at My Memories

This month we are using the Make Me Happy Sampler for the MyMemories Use It All Challenge, along with the optional mermaid journal card and mermaid element.

Back in the day, when I taught paper scrapbooking, many of my classes were layout-based rather than focused on one specific technique like ink, glitter, or stamping. In those layout classes, I often challenged students to step out of their comfort zone and use papers or products they might normally avoid.

Bold patterned papers were difficult for many scrappers, and I put that same kind of thought into the sampler each month. Large, bold prints can feel overwhelming, but they can also add so much movement and personality when they are used in smaller doses.

For this layout, my favorite papers were, in order:

1. the stripes
2. the hearts
3. the swirls

I used them proportionately on my page. The swirl paper became small strips down the side of the layout, with the cardstock showing between them. It created a really fun look without letting the boldest paper take over the page.

 


The top left square is actually the journal card with the mermaid tail on it. I rotated it 180 degrees and used the upper portion almost like another solid paper. Then I stacked the other elements to create a cluster and gave my optional mermaid friend a little place to hide.   I used the other journal card to create a label for the date and place of the photos.

This month we’re working with the Fairy Tales Sampler — a whimsical mini filled with soft purples, fresh greens, playful mushrooms, sweet florals, and storybook-inspired patterns. It’s perfect for documenting magical moments, imaginative play, little adventures, and all those real-life stories that feel a bit fairytale-worthy.

The Use It All Challenge is exactly what it sounds like: create one layout and use every item from the Fairy Tales Sampler on that page. Papers, elements, labels, word bits — everything! The fun is figuring out how to layer, cluster, tuck, and sprinkle details so the whole sampler makes it onto your finished layout.

Tips to help you fit it all in

• Layer papers as strips, mats, or a patchwork background.
• Cluster in groups (mushrooms + florals + labels) and repeat smaller accents around the page.
• Tuck tiny pieces behind photos, frames, or journaling spots so nothing feels “stuck on.”
• Scatter the smallest elements like confetti to fill gaps and keep the page balanced.
