It’s time for a new Use It All Challenge! This month we’re working with the On a Positive Note Sampler, a bright and cheerful mix made for documenting good days, encouraging moments, little wins, fresh starts, happy thoughts, and the memories that deserve an extra dose of optimism.

This month’s first sample layout features photos of my youngest daughter while she was in high school.
Once in a while, a paper inspires me to try something new. For this layout, I used the word paper as the full background and then duplicated the layer.
On the duplicated layer, I selected the Magic Wand Tool and made sure Contiguous was unchecked. I clicked on the cream background color and, once it was selected, pressed the Delete key. That left me with only the multicolored words in their original colors.
I recolored those words with a cream that matched the background, clipped the layer to the photo, and then played with the opacity of the words along with the color and position of the photo until I was happy with the result.
It was a fun way to use one of the papers in a completely different way while still keeping the design connected to the rest of the collection.
